Summertime is time for telling spooky stories… at the Read-A-Roke!

July 10, 8pm: Horror Story Read-A-Roke, West Seattle

Now that the last of the formal holidays are over, it’s time to lean into spooky season, yes?

Yes! For some of us, Halloween can’t come soon enough, and the summer is a great place to start sharing those creepy campfire stories or passages from beloved gothic books.

Love to listen to scary tales, classic and contemporary?

Want to read your own horror stories, or a favorite from your own collection?

Have a true ghost story you want to share, open mic style?

The Seattle chapter of the HWA is sponsoring this horror-friendly “read-a-roke” event at Seattle’s only horrorcentric bar, 2 Fingers Social, hosted by owner/bartender Andrew.

There’s a mic waiting for anyone who wants to share a short horror story… either your own or from a favorite collection or book. Read them aloud right off the page or be the spooky storyteller and recite off the cuff!

We’re looking for witchy, spooky, hair-raising, bone-chilling, intense, even funny stories with a Halloween-esque flare. Too soon for autumn scares? Bring us your tales set in a cabin in the woods, a haunted sea shanty, or a poltergeisted suburb.

There will be a selection of works to pick from for those who forget to bring something to read or are suddenly inspired to share! A fun event at an even more fun venue!

This event recurs every second Thursday of the month.
