We’re counting the days until we celebrate the launch of Rain Shadows (on July 19, 2025) with our August 10 release party!

Free and open to the public, we’re holding the party at 2 Fingers Social, a horrorcentric bar in West Seattle that y’all should be visiting if you like scary movies that play constantly, good cocktails with spooky names, horror memorabilia, and some creative hot dog options (don’t overlook the glow-in-the-dark bathroom!).

It’s also the location for the HWA’s newly launched Read-A-Roke (every third Thursday from 8 to 930p), in which participants (could be writers, could be ordinary folk at the bar, could be the bartender!) read from favorite horror books and stories. The HWA provides some good work to select from for those who didn’t come prepared but want to play along.

We picked this location for obvious reasons, but also because we really want to show this local business with its quirky niche some love. I would be there all the time if it weren’t so far from my house! Andrew, the owner-bartender, made cocktails for Crypticon this year, and I can definitely give a thumbs up to his version of the Sazerac.

Andrew’s there at 2 Fingers Social every single day (except Monday, when it’s closed) from 5p to midnight.

Not only is the party venue super local and friendly to the horror-loving community, but we’ll have a local popup bookseller handling our sales, a local author interviewing us as part of the reading event, a regional publisher reading tarot cards, a local artist with some spooky-good work to appreciate, even a local author writing your murder story on the fly.
