I’m naturally introverted (for Myers Briggs folks, I’m INFJ), but people rarely believe this because I seem so outgoing. It’s mostly because I’ve learned some skills from the extrovert playbook (singing, as a kid, and tending bar, as an adult).

I talk about this, and how it’s important for artists and writers who are introverts to find ways to navigate the extroverted world in a delightful conversation with Steph and Jay at Stay Introverted.
We had a blast talking about what it means to be an “extroverted introvert” and it took me into something I have thought a lot about over the years, this notion of “going down to the basement.”
It’s an analogy, not really a prescription to go down to your basement, at all, but an exploration of what it means to face your scary dark side (which all people have, introverted or extroverted) while still being able to live a full, emotionally healthy life.
You’ll have to listen to the podcast more to get the gist, but Steph and Jay were generous enough to give me two slots in their lineup this month (thank you ever so much!!!). Please consider subscribing and listening, this is a really engaging podcast to listen to, and Steph and Jay are truly a dynamic duo; I was listening well before they invited me on the show.
<–Â Here is the link to the episode that dropped last Tuesday April 2 (click on the pic to the left). The next one will drop next Tuesday April 9.
–>Â Plus IÂ did my first ever livestream with them today (click the pic to the right to watch!), a little wonky at first because of connectivity issues but stay with it… you’ll get to see my not-so-well-kept fireweed secret garden, meet Mother (my resident cedar goddess tree), and hear Steph’s story about riding out her very first earthquake!
