First, A Confession
My recent walkabouts in my neighborhood of woods and trails and country roads have turned me into a blackberry-grazing beast. I keep thinking, Hmm, I should bring a bucket next time and pick these berries and bring them home, but then I’m right there, the berries are right there, and I end up just saying Nawww and eating a couple handfuls as I walk along.
Blackberry Season is Here!
If you, too, like to sample from the bounty around you, and you love books and local authors, please consider checking out the Author Event Network booth at this weekend’s Blackberry Festival in Bremerton. There, you will have the opportunity to sample from several different kinds of books (memoir, poetry, science fiction, children’s, thriller, and more) written by authors from all around the Salish Sea (for those not familiar, this is the new reference to the Puget Sound).
This family-friendly event is just a lovely ferry ride from Seattle to Bremerton, then a short walk up to the festival, if you’re interested. Lots of exhibits and entertainment, festival food galore (and beer garden), and a veritable sprawl (think blackberry brambles) of arts and culture. If you live on the west side of the Sound, it’s an easy trek up the Kitsap peninsula, with parking and shuttles.
Naturally, I’ll be there with copies of Intention Tremor to sign and sell, and remember, 100% of my sales benefit the Accelerated Cure Project.
Our recent rainy period comes to a close this weekend. The Blackberry Festival might be just the thing you need to get outside to enjoy the rain-washed air, support local artists, experience live entertainment, choose from 15 different blackberry delicacies (!), and send off the summer in style as we head into my favorite season in the Pacific Northwest: autumn!
