A peek into the October 2025 Substack…
August brings with it the first hints of fall in the PNW… but only if you look for them. The dead leaves (usually from drought), new pumpkins on the vine, prickly blackberry vines taking over the ditches, the harbinger spiders and their webs, that feeling of slowness in one’s marrow, and that shift in the blue of the sky… they all happen even while temperatures soar. It’s then that I begin deciding things.
