Taking some time away from the blog because A) I’m headed to the PNWA conference this week, and B) I didn’t get my summer vacation thanks to COVID.
📌 The Pacific Northwest Writer Association’s annual conference descends upon Seatac Wed-Sun, Sept 11-14. Many thanks to Clay Vermulm and Melissa Stewart for helping our genre and community get a foot into the door, as horror has not historically been represented as a genre here in years past.
I’m looking forward to helping promote the Seattle Chapter of the HWA and the many local writers we support! Here are the details:
THURSDAY to SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 11-14, 2025 (all day) || The Pacific Northwest Writers Association annual conference, Doubletree Hotel, Seatac, WA
The Seattle Chapter of the HWA hosts a table featuring HWA authors and with the purpose of bringing in new members!
Hours I’m at the table:
THURS || 12pm – 5pm
FRI || 9am – 1pm
SAT || 9am – 1pm
SUN || 9:30am – 11:30am
I’ll be signing books at the author signing event on Saturday just prior to the Margaret Atwood feature; books can be purchased through the conference bookseller beforehand.
I’m also moderating a panel at 8am on Sunday with Erik Keevan, Kino McFarland, and Maria Giakoumatos on the topic, “Isn’t It Romantic?”, where horror and romance might—or might not—rendezvous.
📌 The only other event I’m doing this month is attending the debut Seattle Horror Book Club event at 4pm on Sat Sept 27 at the central branch of the Seattle Public Library.
Our new HWA member, Perla Caballero, will run the book club discussion, which will feature Diavola by Jennifer Thorne. Please join us! It’s free and open to the public, but registering at this app helps the library find the right sized space for us, so please go there now and sign up!
This blog is going to run light this month as I need some time off.
- I just started back to class (Advanced Creative Writing Workshop) with Richard Thomas at Storyville and that will take up some brainspace.
- I’m also staring down a couple of free weeks of guerilla gardening opportunities before the October Spooky Season Tour featuring Rain Shadows with Clay Vermulm commences.
- Finally, somewhere in there I’ve got passes and reservations for the Port Townsend Film Festival.
And I’m gonna sleep. And read. And enjoy the beautiful fall in the PNW. And hike. And drink coffee out on the porch. And see a friend or two.
And I.Can’t.Wait.
Talk soon!
