THURS SEPT 11 to SUN SEPT 14: Pacific Northwest Writers Association Conference

This event is open to PNWA members and registered attendees. If you plan to be there, come find me in the vendors/exhibitor’s hall… I’ll be representing the Seattle Chapter of the Horror Writers Association, where we’ll have information about our organization and books from our members for sale and signing!

Hours I’m at the table:

THURS || 12pm – 5pm
FRI || 9am – 1pm
SAT || 9am – 1pm
SUN || 9:30am – 11:30am

On Saturday afternoon, I’ll be participating in their afternoon autograph party from 4:30 to 6:30pm in the Grand Ballroom. I’ll have Rain Shadows, Cul de Sac Stories, and Intention Tremor for sale in the conference bookstore.

I’m also moderating a panel with Erik Keeven, Maria Giakoumatos, and Kino McFarland on the topic, “Isn’t It Romantic?”, a discussion where horror and romance genres face off: How do they compare? How do they contrast? That’s on Sunday at 8am, so bring your coffee and your

SEPT 12: Read-A-Roke at 2 Fingers Social

I’m going to try to hold down the fort this time around, maybe bring some of my HWA folks with me from the PNWA conference to share bits from our own work, or read some cool stuff to get the spooky season started in West Seattle.

Read-A-Roke is a fun literary open mic at this eclectic horror-centric venue; you’ll enjoy listening to a lot of spooky tales for those who dare to step up and read.

Yes, I’ll admit, this event can be hit or miss based on who’s around to run the show, but we try. It will really depend upon how much energy I have after a day at the conference. Cross your fingers that it’ll fly this time (with apologies for the August no-show: WorldCon was more than enough for Clay and I, and we didn’t have cars to get there anyway).

SEPT 27: Seattle Horror Book Club discusses Diavola

HWA member Perla Caballero hosts this brand-new event, which will branch hop across different Seattle Public Library spaces monthly. This month will be at the Central branch, and it starts at 4pm. We’ll be discussing a horror novel from 2024 set in contemporary Italy: Diavola, by Jennifer Thorne.
