Highlights from the Rain Shadows launch party

Yes, it was hot out, but yes, 2 Fingers Social is a “hole in the wall” with blessed shade, big open doors, and ginormous fans.

Yes, it was a Sunday night, but people came out and mostly stayed all the way to the end.

Yes, we had a late start but it all ended up working to our advantage.

I’m talking, of course, about our Rain Shadows launch party, which was fun and, well, celebratory, as well as full of local arts vibes. In particular, I love that the food cart “sandwich guy” outside (Mojo’s… which earned raves from the crowd) won the free copy of Rain Shadows!

We chatted with local horror author Gordon B. White, who was announced as one of two new co-hosts for the Beneath The Rain Shadow podcast Season 2 lineup, the other being another fantastic local author, M. Leigh.

We also:

  • gave away prizes
  • read selections from Rain Shadows
  • heard some spooky writing from both Gordon and M. Leigh
  • had a nice stream of tarot readings from Joe Donley, whose Dark Forest Press donated two book packages to the raffle… and artist Alex Sylvester (Mr. VoidSelf) also donated a great original print and sold some really cool materials (I landed two stickers that reflect my interests: gardening and snakes)
  • learned about a new Seattle Horror Book Club
  • collected funds to buy some cool things to gift to the HWA
  • got to see Clay Vermulm taken down by a J-horror vampire-demon in the film Emiko (pretty edgy stuff, folks!)

Overall, a very satisfying evening, and we are immensely grateful to Andrew at 2 Fingers Social for letting us take over the joint! (Sorry, no pictures of me, I forgot to take a selfie!)
