July 2025 marks several events where Clay and I will be showcasing our new book, Rain Shadows, in public spaces. It’s release date is July 19, 2025.

JUL 10: Read-A-Roke at 2 Fingers Social in West Seattle
This fun reading event takes place every second Thursday and is sponsored by the Seattle chapter of the HWA. I will be there, reading from Rain Shadows and/or other works.
Participation is simple: bring a favorite short piece of horror writing to the open mic and read it before an appreciative audience. You can read your own work, a classic work, or something you just really love that you read recently.
We will have a selection of works to choose from should you decide to come and participate but don’t have anything to read.
Clay will be there, too!
JUL 11: Cascade Writers Workshop open mic at Grumble and Wine in Bremerton
You can attend this even if you’re not participating in the long weekend workshop hosted by Cascade Writers.
Clay and I will be there sharing bits from our own work. It’s a fun and eclectic venue and you’ll enjoy listening to a lot of strong work at the mic.
JUL 17 or 18: Port Townsend Writers Conference open micÂ
If you plan to go, I’m going to try to read at least part of my short story, “Shanghai,” at either the Thursday or Friday night open mic. It all depends upon whether I get to the list in time (it fills up quickly!).
Note: I’m waiting until later in the week because, on Thursday, the conference organizers have scheduled a new event on that day… a walk around the park, which includes the trails near the setting for my story (which was a prompt from Clay for the Beneath the Rain Shadows podcast last year).
Pre-release copies of Rain Shadows will be available at the conference bookstore.
JUL 20 and 27: Haunted Farmers Market in Tacoma (HWA table)Â
I will be taking orders for Rain Shadows and selling my other books (Cul de Sac Stories, Intention Tremor, and two anthologies: Lurking and True Stories VI) at these events.
Should be a fun event and a great way to spend a lovely summer day in the PNW. It’s a pet friendly venue, too!
JUL 26: Two-Hour Transport Live Reading at Magnuson Park
I’m finally able to attend this annual live event!
I’ll read something from Rain Shadows but I’m also there for all the local speculative fiction talent that comes out every year for this fun reading.
