What a week of highs and lows!
I’m not someone who thinks of Mercury Retrograde as a bad thing. But it sure get a bad rap! To me, though, it’s more a reminder that we need to be adaptable, expect sudden shifts, and practice patience. Those, to me, are good reminders.
I needed reminders this week with so much happening in the collective world while, I too, had lots on my plate… and all of it preceded by a lunar event!
So yes, life was busy and discombobulated but it also delivered creativity, inspiration, and good humor as well as an opportunity (however forced) to slow down (even if it comes with caveats like practice self care…).

AUG 19, 2024—Trifecta for this month’s full moon!
I’m a lunatic and love to watch the waxing and waning of our satellite sister.
- Why is this hi-vibe? I think we all know how the moon’s phases impacts tides, women’s cycles, sleep, mental health, perceptions of time, and circadian rhythms. When the moon is full, it’s not a big leap to imagine how these impacts my be equally magnified. For me, as a lunatic, this leads to more dreams, more creativity, more insights and intuition.

AUG 20, 2024—Wicked Obscura Candles
I am pretty picky about scented candles because I can only tolerate soy candles with cotton wicks and pure essential oils. In fact, I just threw out a pomegranate-scented candle because it burned so dirty that it sent my air quality meter off the charts!
I found my first Wicked Obscura candle at the local grocery store and I am so thrilled with how clean it burns, how pleasant the fragrance is, and how easy it is to light.
- Why is this hi-vibe? I meditate and use candles for focusing and creating intentions. These candles are clearly made with care and beautiful to look at, besides. And the fragrance is pleasant and clean.

AUG 21, 2024—Birbs
So many in my backyard, from wrens and goldfinches to hawks and hummingbirds to juncos and redwing blackbirds to Stellers jays and robins to crows and mourning doves to flickers and nuthatches… and I could name at least a dozen more! They are fascinating to watch and a joy to listen to.
- Why is this hi-vibe? Because I find birds bring me ideas or reminders. They truly are messengers and are often celebrated as such in both mainstream and subcultures. They also like to hang out with me while I’m in the garden and seem unafraid of me, which I find quite lovely and satisfying, but perhaps this is because I’m the keeper of the seeds…

AUG 22, 2024—Carbs
I woke up with vertigo and other assorted symptoms that remind me I have multiple sclerosis. Ugh. When I finally got over my nausea, I indulged in a ginormous bowl of cereal. The sense of calm it brought me—that carbs always bring me—saved the day.
- Why is this hi-vibe? For me, cravings generally tell me what I need. I am also not one to follow diets, but common sense. [Please, not lectures on eating carbs.] When my body craves carbs, it’s because I’m exhausted and my brain needs glucose just to handle basic functions (it’s a problem for people with MS). I try to meet that craving with something ostensibly healthy (this cereal had fruit and nuts in it as well as soy milk, which my body appreciates). Sometimes a ginormous bowl of cereal just hits right. My mood improved and I had enough energy to get through an hour and a half mastermind online and a bunch of planning (which was all I had brainspace for).

AUG 23, 2024—Fog
Day 2 of not feeling great. Had to cancel some dates and rethink my weekend plans.
- Why is this hi-vibe? Fog, when it rolls in, seems to do so just when I need it. Fog is like Mother Nature telling me to slow down, get some rest, dim the lights, keep the noise down, breathe in the damp, life-sustaining air. It’s far easier to chillax when the sky is covered in a soft blanket than it is when the sun is beaming bright, demanding energy and action I just don’t have to give. Then I just fall into a pattern of Sunshine Guilt… and who needs that?Thank you, Mother Nature, for the reprieve!
It’s more important than ever for me to remember how much good there is in the world. To that end, I’m going to try to post 5 cool things I encountered recently. Weekly? Maybe. Or maybe just occasionally. However frequently I do it, my goal is to brighten your day and help me cleanse my own timeline of all the toxicity that current events and social media can bring. With so much happening in the world, we all just need a link-love break, y’know?
