It’s funny, you don’t realize what will interest someone until you do an interview with them and they lead with one of your biggest childhood inspirations.
For me (as a storyteller), it was that cheesy low-budget Jason and the Golden Fleece/Argonauts movie directed by Don Chaffey (1963) that played on commercial TV back in the 1960s. I especially remember the images of the giant crabs,* which explains my first-ever short story, “Island of the Giant Crabs.” (I was, what? 6 or 7?)
It is this which interviewer and creative maven Chris Corvan highlights in our Creative Coffee Cafe interview for episode 14 of the Dripping Creativity podcast.
Thrilled to be part of this amazing creative community. I found it while negotiating fresh territories in social media and am so grateful for the positive energy!
Many thanks to Chris and my peers there for all the support!
*Or… maybe my memory of the source is incorrect… perhaps the crabs came instead from Ray Harryhausen’s animations in Mysterious Island? It’s been 50+ years, but you get the idea. Harryhausen’s work was featured in both of these (and many other) fantastical films of the time.
