SNEAK PEEK: More Rain Shadows launch party sideshow details: local authors, booksellers, and filmmakers

[Written by Clay Vermulm; reprinted with permission from Clay Vermulm Fiction]

A CONVERSATION WITH THE GORDON B.

Aside from showing off local art and throwing down tarot cards, we will be doing some author stuff at this party!

Tamara and I will each read from a select story in our collection, Rain Shadows, and in between, we will have an interview with one of my favorite local horror authors, Gordon B. White.

Gordon is an accomplished and acclaimed author by all those who know him. To those who don’t, I say educated THY SELF! (as in, read stuff from Gordon. You can find it all RIGHT HERE).

He is also an excellent panelist, educator, and interviewer, and so we’re very thankful he’s agreed to take the time from his busy schedule this Sunday to facilitate our launch party interview!

[an additional highlight from Tamara…]

BUY YOUR BOOKS FROM THE BURROW!

Local horror author and bookseller Roxanne Guiney of Haunted Burrow Books will be there to help sell copies of Rain Shadows for those in attendance.

Her new shop is sweet! A creepy paradise specializing in horror, dark fantasy, sci-fi, and occult books.

As a member of the Horror Writers Association and a part of Seattle’s literary community, Roxanne is excited to host book clubs, writing critique groups, and write-ins at the store as well as stock books written and published by local authors and small presses.

She even offers literary “care packages” called Blind Dates (with a monster) that may appeal to you in the coming rainy season.

Tamara and Clay know Roxanne through the North Seattle Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers group and have been known to hang out at Crypticon as well.

You can find her store at 430 15th Ave E., Seattle 98112 and on Instagram @hauntedburrowbooks, but come to the party and she will bring part of the store to you! Want to support an indie bookshop? Find Haunted Burrow Books in Bookshop.org as well; your purchases mean a lot to small booksellers.

A FINALE IN LOCAL FILM

And for our last ‘sideshow’ attraction, we have a short film starring me, which we will stream on the bar TVs at the end of the night.

This one, coming from our friends and creative partners at Next Floor Entertainment (@nextfloorentertainment on Instagram).

Emiko is a J-Horror film by Seattle writer, director, and editor Justin Robert Vinall about a ‘caregiver’ who becomes infatuated with his latest bedridden client, despite something being definitively ‘off’ about her…

Learn more about the film HERE.

Thanks, Justin, for sharing this film with us for the event! It’s still one of my best memories of my time in narrative screen acting around Seattle, and I cannot wait to share it with you all :).
