“Come prepared to read some poems about illness and healing,” she beckons. Participants will have time to write from prompts and share their work, if desired.
Suzanne will read selections from her books, The Body Lives Its Undoing: published with grants from Benaroya Research Institute, 4Culture and Artist Trust; and Since the House Is Burning; MoonPath Press, 2022.
You could not possibly find a better mentor for writing about chronic illness. Suzanne is many things all wrapped into one person: a poet, a savvy educator, an experienced therapist, and the mother of a child living with a rare autoimmune disease. Her professional life thrives at this compelling intersection between art, healing, and education.
Afterward, I have the distinct pleasure and privilege of joining her for the poetry reading that follows. We’ll share poems about healing and illness, but about other things that connect with these ideas as well (I’m on a gardening and nature kick, so there’s that!). You can expect a few poems from my collection, Intention Tremor, for sure.
